Planting Seeds

Planting a seed and watching it grow is one of the most pleasurable experiences a person can have. Taking the time to care for it and protect it from danger gives one a sense of pride when that tiny seed has reached its full potential.

There are certain people in this world with the sole purpose of planting seeds. They go from one spot to the next sprinkling seeds wherever they go. The placement of their hands upon our soil stimulates the growth of our seed. It allows the roots to reach deeper and become strong and firm. Pouring words of encouragement on us. Feeding our soil nutritional kindness. Massaging our leaves. Making sure we feel the warmth of the sun.

Seed planters are not concerned with personally harvesting from the bounty their seeds create. They desire trees yielding an abundance of fruit to feed others so their soil may become fertile ground for more seeds to be planted.

It may take seed planters some time to understand the responsibility they have because outside forces seek to influence the way they use their seeds. It's easy to become selfish and keep a hold of your seeds or sell them to the highest bidder. It's understandable to be shy and nervous about the best way to share your seeds. But once a seed planter truly understands their purpose and utilizes their seeds the best way, they can live a more productive and happier life touching others in a way they could have never imagined.
The Greater Good?

One of my uncle's always ask me at family events, "Where's the Mrs?" and "Where's the little one?" I generally play it off with some type of joke and move along. As I grow a little older, the question takes on more meaning.

While talking at the last family event, one of my young male cousins (about 5 or 6) came over apparently just to stand by me (he's a funny little boy). I told my uncle I seem to attract enough children already. I don't think I need any of my own. He quickly commented it's not like having your own just to see what you can produce. That comment bothered me a little because I would never want to have a child to "just see what I can produce." There are enough people doing that already.

I love children. I love the imagination and creativity of a young mind. Children can take the simplest thing and stretch the possibilities to outrageous proportions. But it doesn't mean that I'm supposed to have a child just to have one. There are some days I wish I did have a little me running around (heaven help us when he's on the loose). And there are days when I'm glad I don't.

There are days when I look at where my life is leading me and I realize there is a reason why I don't have a wife and children. It's not for lack of opportunity or interest. It's not because of a cold heart or desire to be a playboy (anyone that really knows me, can attest to that). Circumstances and events I have experienced have led me to accept that The Creator is preparing me for something that will not allow me to have a normal family life.

I could force the issue and make it happen. But would I be messing up something I'm destined to do? Would I be putting my own selfish desires above the plan The Creator appears to be placing before me?

We have points along our journey when we reach a fork in the road and the choice we have to make requires us to sacrifice what we want in order to serve a greater good. As we grow older and hopefully wiser the decision appears to be an easy one. Or is it?

Watching the 60 Minutes interview of President Obama, I am often amazed that he is able to hold it together as well as he has. I can only imagine going to Congress, locking the door, turning off the cameras and tearing a new hole in all of them. Dropping "F" bombs and every other expletive to hammer the point home that "we" have to get this sh#t right. Stop trying to figure out who's d$ck is bigger and put aside petty foolishness to do what is truly right and fair for the people of this country.

We, as citizens, have to take a look at what we are "not" doing. Why has the country reached this state of dismay? What caused us to lose sight of fairness and compassion for our fellow man? Have we allowed corporations to methodically gain control of what we value most? As amazing as technology has become, why have we allowed it to dominate nearly every aspect of life? Success is now measured by what we have more so than what we do. The motto: Get as much as you can as quick as you can and worry about the rest later.

I enjoy watching tv. I love the things I can do with my computer and the software that helps me do it. But I also enjoy live music, a beautiful painting and a well written story.

Getting back to some of the simple things in life. The desire and effort to uplift instead of ridicule and hold down our fellow man can help change the state of our country.

Support more locally owned companies. Buy more USA made products. Spend less time laughing at a fool on YouTube and more time listening to a poet express her thoughts about homelessness. Check out a community play. Have more family game nights. Enjoy more of the natural beauty in life.

Happy New Year everyone. The holidays have come and gone. I'm sure a few resolutions have fallen by the side of the road. But be a good solider and start over again.

I'm excited about this year. It has already started with a bang. I recently joined the Yahoo Contributor Network. It will give me a platform to attract readers and meet new people across the country. It's all part of spreading my wings and sharing my creative energy with more people. I hope you stay with me and enjoy this new adventure. You can see article/stories I have posted on my profile page.

I have started a monthly booklet entitled "Shorties". Each month you can read a new short story from me. I have been digging through the archives to see what will entertain you. I hope you enjoy it and sign up to receive your copy each month.

Romance novels often take a long time to get to the juicy parts and some erotic literature is often the same stereotypical story. Now comes "Love Scenes". Enjoy a brilliant combination of romance and seductive stories that will have you reaching for an ice cube. "Love Scenes" features steamy stories created by some of the best writers of erotic fiction. Be sure to start your Valentine's Day night with "Love Scenes". You may have to call in sick the next day.
